About the Course:
Optometry includes eye and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems & vision information processing in humans.
Optometrists are primary health care providers for the Diagnosis, management and treatment of the Eye Diseases, Refractive disorders.
Diploma in optometry course applicants are acquainted with inspection and analyzing of numerous refractive conditions and oversee Optical guides, for example, Optical Glasses, Contact lenses and other Remedial guides.
Students can also specialize in the field of Contact Lens, Orthotics, Low Vision Aids, Sports Vision, Pediatric Optometry, Behavioral Optometry etc. The course is a career
offering in nature that opens many scopes for the applicants both in private and
government sectors.
Course is beneficial to produce professionally competent optometrists who are in good demand. After completion this programme, students will have the knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to optical or healthcare trade.
Eligibility :
- Minimum & maximum age should be 17 years to 35 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission
- The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing Diploma in (Optometry) is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics from a recognized board of the country.
- Candidate should be medically fit.
Aim :
- Manage his or her own eye clinic, optical shop, lens manufacturing unit
- Contribute to eye tests, contact lenses, exercises
- Collaborate with opticians, ophthalmologists, lens manufacturers
- Teach optometry
- Help detect diseases or fit contact lenses/Low Vision Aids
- Assist in vision screen at schools and in industries
- Provide optometric counselling to patients with partial sight and hereditary vision defects.
Objectives:
- Provide multi-level treatment plans and develop an interdisciplinary care approach to the management of patients with neurological insult
- The resident will proficiently prepare initial evaluation reports, progress reports, and referral letters.
- The resident will learn and execute diagnostic and procedural billing for vision therapy based services.
- The resident will actively participate in internal and external OCVT events
- The enhancement and development of primary eye and vision care by optometrists.
- The promotion of high standards of education and practice by optometrists including by the promotion of international co-ordination of optometrists.
- The provision of support to aid programmes directed at the provision of eye and vision care to societies in need.
- The promotion of the advancement of the science of optometry
