Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EN)

The department of Electrical Engineering offers a vibrant environment for diploma and graduate education and research in Electrical Engineering. The vision of the department is to provide the leadership to enable India's excellence in the field of Electrical Engineering. The department is committed to advancement of the frontiers of knowledge in Electrical Engineering and to provide the students with a stimulating and rewarding learning experience. Electrical Engineering is a popular branch of engineering which deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electrical engineering deals with electricity, electro-magnetism and electronics. It also covers power, control systems, telecommunications and signal processing. These engineers are usually concerned with large-scale electrical systems such as motor control and power transmission, as well as utilizing electricity to transmit energy. Electrical engineers may work on a diverse range of technologies, from the design of household appliances, lighting and wiring of buildings, telecommunication systems, electrical power stations and satellite communications. They may plan their designs using computer-aided software or they may also sketch ideas by hand. The focus of the course remains on designing and testing ICs, inductors, capacitors and resistors.

Electrical engineering provides you with endless opportunities

An electrical engineer is someone who designs and develops new electrical systems solves problems and tests equipment. They study and apply the physics and mathematics of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics to both large and small scale systems to process information and transmit energy. They work with all kinds of electronic devices, from the smallest pocket devices to large supercomputers. @ Naraina Group of Institutions, Electrical Engineering students learn through a combination of design and lab work. This mix of theory and practical application allows students to visualize concepts and then apply their ideas in a variety of real life situations. Students learn to analyze and diagnose problems and develop innovative solutions.

Industries electrical engineers work in

Electrical engineers are usually concerned with large-scale electrical systems such as motor control and power transmission, as well as utilizing electricity to transmit energy. Electrical engineers may work on a diverse range of technologies, from the design of household appliances, lighting and wiring of buildings, telecommunication systems, electrical power stations and satellite communications. Another emerging field for electrical engineers is microelectronics - the design and development of electrical systems and circuits in computers and mobile devices. However, graduates are not just limited to the above industries. @ Naraina Group of Institutions, Electrical Engineering degree teaches you excellent problem solving skills and logical thinking. JOB PROSPECTS:

To make India a ‘Power House’, the industry requires huge numbers of engineers to tackle the prevailing power deficit. Since industrial expansion is on the upswing, the industry is looking for fresh enthusiastic minds to contribute their skills for its growth in following aspects:

  • India is world's third largest producer of electricity with 4.8 percent global share in electricity generation surpassing Japan and Russia in 2013
  • Indian government’s ambitious goal of “power for all” owing to which the power sector is poised for significant expansion
  • 4 percent growthover the previous fiscal in electricity production.
  • Compounded annual growth rate of 5.6percent
  • Positive investment climate, expansion of power industry
  • Proposal to add 76,000 MW of power capacity during 12th five year plan (2012-17)
  • Target of adding 93,000 MW in the 13th five year plan (2017-2022)
  • Guidelines to encourage private sector participation for faster growth
  • Commencement of new projects (sources: KPMG & FICCI).

JOB PROFILES:

Efficient generation, transmission and transformation of electrical energy are decisive prerequisites for rapid development of industry and agriculture. Without this vital energy our daily lives would grind to a halt and therefore electrical engineers have many opportunities. They can be found working in every sphere of modern life including manufacturing to process industries, robotics to embedded systems, automobiles to transport, and from aviation to navigation industries.

  • Research and blueprinting the design
  • Design, manufacture, develop, evaluate, sell, market and administer new electric components and testing equipment
  • Generation, Transmission and Distribution of energyli>
  • To deal with all kinds of electronic devices ranging from biggest machines to small size pocket devices
  • Troubleshooting and Controlling devices for generating electricity
  • Quality, security and conversion of applications and electrical systems
  • Using diverse technologies and equipment for production and operation of electrical energy

Future Prospects in India

Electrical Engineers are much in demand in India. In the recent years, from house to companies every where there is a necessity of electricity to function, offering numerous opportunities to electrical engineers. These engineers can work in atomic power plants, hydel or thermal power plants. Job opportunities are ample in both private and public sector like railways, civil aviation, electricity board and utility companies, electrical design and consultancy firms and all types of manufacturing industries. After getting a degree in electrical engineering, they can also go into teaching field or join a research lab. Teaching career is also rewarding, with attractive remuneration packages. Companies like ABB, Bajaj International Private Ltd, Crompton Greaves Limited, Siemens Ltd, Reliance Power Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Coal India Limited (CIL), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Centre for Electronics Design and Technology and Wipro Lighting are the biggest employers hiring Electrical Engineers.

A Graduate in EEE can go for Diverse fields whether it is PSU Job, Core Sectors like Construction & Steel, IT Industry, Consultancy/Finance Job, Electronics Design and a myriad of Profiles like Business Development Associates, Content Development Manager etc. Students can also appear for PSUs like AIRPORT Authority of INDIA where Electrical & Electronics Students are allowed along with ECE students for post of Junior Executive (Electronics). Without GATE score, those students are only BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, students are not Eligible to Fill the Form unless you are BE/B.Tech in ECE,EEE.

A Rank within 500 in GATE EE Paper opens opportunities to join IOCL, BBNL, NTPC, ONGC, NLC, PGCIL, BPCL and other MAHARATNAS, NAVRATNAS PSU.

The Scope of EEE branch is Unlimited Provided you Chose which Option to Opt in near future. EEE degree will provide a global arena of options but you have to tap it to become successful.
